A graceful hand painted ballerina rises through an extraordinary sweep of yellow, orange and golden abstraction, her outstretched arms creating an almost wing-like silhouette across the canvas. Her poised charcoal form carries the discipline and precision of classical ballet, while everything surrounding her feels spontaneous, energetic and wonderfully unrestricted.

Three monarch butterflies move through the composition, echoing the dancer’s own sense of transformation. Their delicate flight contrasts against the explosive movement of the paint, yet both seem carried by the same invisible current. The ballerina herself appears somewhere between dancing and taking flight.
