There are moments in life we would keep forever if we could. The Sunset Moment was created around one such memory—a mother, her son, an unborn child and the sense that something greater is quietly watching over them all.

Commissioned as an intensely personal original artwork, the portrait depicts a woman peacefully immersed in music, her eyes closed as a vast movement of golden, bronze and earthy colour flows outward around her. Yet the most intimate story exists inside the headphones.

Within the earpiece is a miniature painted scene inspired by a treasured photograph: the woman standing by the ocean while pregnant, lifting her young son and kissing him as the sun descends across the water. It is a memory of motherhood at a remarkable threshold—holding one child in her arms while carrying another within her.

Just beneath the setting sun is another small but significant detail: the hand of God, positioned as though sending the sunlight toward the mother, her son and the baby soon to enter their lives. The light therefore becomes more than a sunset. It represents love, protection, faith and the invisible connection between generations.

Outside this intimate scene, the expressive abstraction expands dramatically from the portrait. Gold, bronze, amber, cream and deep earth tones create an atmosphere that feels simultaneously celestial and grounded. The contrast between the finely rendered coconut charcoal figure and spontaneous movement of acrylic and oil is characteristic of Harrison’s Motusrealism—using realism to tell the visible story and abstraction to express everything that cannot easily be put into words.

The Sunset Moment is a celebration of motherhood, faith and memory, preserving one small moment within something much larger: the continuing story of a family.
